Houston, TX - UConn started their impressive run by winning 5 games in 5 days to win the Big East Tournament. Many questioned if they could keep up the pace and if their All American Kemba Walker could carry them to a National Championship. Question no more. Stifling defense helped overcome a first half deficit and give Jim Calhoun his third national championship. Connecticut finished the game on a 34-16 run to coast to a 53-41 victory. Coach Calhoun joins a small group of Hall of Fame coaches with 3 or more national titles.

Walker led UConn with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Jeremy Lamb had 12 points and 7 rebounds. Leading the Bulldogs was Shelvin Mack with 13 points and 9 rebounds. Butler finishes their season at 28-10. Beat reporter Tony Lisi caught up with Coach Calhoun after the game. "This is for the little guys. Year after year organizations such as yours promote college basketball at its finest. For that, we thank you," an emotional Calhoun lamented. "Hats off and congratulations to Tim Wolff, the 2011 Henderson Tournament Challenge winner. He had faith in us. In me. Thank you Tim" finished Calhoun. Pulling a Jim Grey, Lisi brought up the recruiting violations of the basketball program causing things to get ugly and ending the press conference prematurely. Rumors of firsts flying could not be substantiated.

Next up for the Huskies? Perhaps a show down with the long time powerhouse Lady Huskies.

Congratulations to Tim Wolff who is the winner of the 2011 Henderson NCAA Tournament Challenge. Tied for second is Clara Stover and Amy Long with 66 points. Right behind is Malley White and Gino Lutz with 65. While the total brackets was down from our record of 185, this was still a great year.  Thank you to everyone and look forward to next year!
