They Call Me “Mr.” Mahon
Meet Greg Mahon.
Greg discusses his success with Mid-Major teams
A prolific television watcher, he’s been called the laziest person east of the Mississippi. Greg calls it scouting, and questions the commitment of his detractors while dismissing their complaints as “nonsensical chatter”.
He recently sat down at his home with Henderson NCAA Tournament officials, part of the Tournament’s continuing efforts to get to know its participants better. Some highlights:
Age: young at heart
Years Participating in Henderson NCAA Tournament: since inception
Has a soft spot for: former Phillies General Manager Ed Wade
Cries: never
Favorite Team: Penn State Nittany Lions
Fans will remember: his botched version of the Star Spangled Banner featured on Sportscenter
Notable: three-time letter winner in curling at Penn State-Harrisburg
Quotable: “These tournaments are won and lost in January. On the couch.”
Helping out the officials with a blocking call late during UCONN v. George Mason
